Just found out today that my friend Keith died last winter. I called his friend former WMU Baseball coach Fred Decker who told me. Keith was a great person he took time with me and inspired me to write the story of WMU's first black athlete Sam Dunlap for the Western Hearld. Keith gave of himself and spent time with me to help me become the person I am he gave me values.

I couldn't hit the curve ball--that is what Keith told me several times over the years. Baseball was his passion and not too many watched more games than Keith. Always good for a story or two and a laugh. He was also very interested in the youth of the community and wanted all to succeed and was sad when they didn't. God Bless you Keith, I will miss you on the side lines.

I remember Keith sitting in the stands at the old Sutherland Park watching city league baseball and all the wonderful basball talent that was available. If you were a player on one of the teams it didn't matter how long ago if you made an impression on him he never forgot your name with his great memory. When he would see me and we would speak years later he said "You were a good catcher,Power hitter,No speed". Rest in peace Keith.
