Keith Douglas Vrhel

Keith and I were best friends in high school. He played first chair clarinet and I played first chair trumpet in the Riverside Brookfield High School band. We cruised in his dad's 65 GTO--4 on the floor. We played poker, went to White Castle late at night, and grew up together. We were room mates at U Illinois in the Florida Avenue Residence. Keith and my brother, Greg, went to med school together at U Illinois. I knew of his leadership in the San Diego community and his commitment to AIDS...

I just found about Keith's passing. He was my physician for over 25 years. He was an excellent doctor, but also the most decent, caring man. I doubt if I will ever have a physician that will care for me as well as Keith did. He is certainly missed.

Keith was a kind and gentle friend. He was there for me in a tough time as I moved from Phoenix to San Diego. I would not have made it alone in a new city without his help. Rest In Peace dear friend. Mahalo and aloha nui loa.A hui hou

What a great doctor and friend of our community- usually I would dread going to the doctor, but Keith and his wonderful staff made it a positive experience. He lived a full and kind life! I'm sorry I missed the celebration of his life. May fond memories comfort all those who hold him in their heart.
