Kelly Harper, age 83 of Sugar Grove, WV, passed away on Friday, August 5, 2016 at Willow Estates in Harrisonburg, VA. He was born on January 15, 1933 in Dry Run, WV, the son of the late Fred and Elsie (Propst) Harper. On September 1, 1956, Kelly married Marie (Hawk) Harper, who survives in Franklin, WV.

Kelly attended The Sandy Ridge One Room School and was a member of Sandy Ridge Church of the Brethren, and a former member of the Franklin Ruritan Club. He had worked at Glover's Auto Supply, Southern States, and WV DOH for 20 years. Kelly was a Farmer and a Building Contractor and was a Veteran of the US Army.

Kelly is survived by: 2 daughters, Evelyn Calhoun and husband Styrl of Upper Tract, WV, Kim Crane and husband Tony of Franklin; a son, Eddie Harper and wife Lori of Sugar Grove; 3 sisters, Reba Sheaffer of Petersburg, WV, Donna Windle and husband Robert of Woodstock, VA, Joann Hiner and husband Paul of Charlottesville, VA; 3 brothers, Norman Harper and wife Glenna of Dayton, VA, Gary Harper and wife Connie of Hinton, VA, Steve Harper of Sugar Grove; 2 granddaughters, Jenny Whetzel and husband Trent and Jacquelyn Sites and husband Daris; and 4 great-grandchildren, Kourtney and Makynna Whetzel, and Sinjin and Sierra Sites. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Rebecca Bragg and Madeline Waybright.

Kelly's family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 9, 2016, 1-2:00 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin. Funeral services will follow on Tuesday at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jerry Smith officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Pendleton County Veterans Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to Mountain Hospice, POB 416, Franklin, WV 26807.
