I wish I had known Ken. What a great guy. Best obituary ever. He was real and he was here!

I knew Ken only from a distance, when we worked for First Union at the same time, and he was in corporate communications. I remember being struck by his genteel nature and quick wit in the very few interactions we had. We need people like him. Thanks to you, Ken, to your family and friends, for all you gave us while you were here. Smiles, and kindness, go a long way.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Akers when he brought Juliet in to our Animal Hospital. He always made a point to remember our names and ask us how we were doing. I will miss seeing him come in with Juliet but take comfort in knowing she provided him with wonderful companionship as he did in return for her. He was truely a genuinely nice person and I am very glad I got the chance to know him.

Ken. Cool guy and accepting of all.
Wish I would have known him better, but am thankful I knew him at all.

Ken could look as serious as anyone and break into a smile a laughter quicker than anyone. He was a great friend, excellent listener and trusted confidant through the years. I have many memories of Al Mike's, the roof at the Poplar and other places around town. Miss you, buddy. (Nancy Holland, Alexandria, VA)

Didn't know Ken, but enjoyed his obit and regret not having the pleasure. Certainly can see how he will be sorely missed by his friends and family.
