Ken Barlow Obituary

Ken Barlow

Ridgeland

Ken Barlow died peacefully November 30, 2015 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, MS. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, December 2, at 10 am with a memorial service to follow at 11 am at Christ United Methodist Church.

Ken was born February 10, 1939 in Jackson, MS and grew up in McComb, MS. Following graduation from McComb High School in 1961, Ken served in the Navy and attended Naval Corpsman School in California. He was later stationed in Philadelphia, PA. Following his time of service, Ken graduated from Mississippi College with both an undergraduate and a Master's degree in Public Relations. The majority of Ken's work life was spent in the area of Human Resources working with Time Warner and ultimately founding The Delken Group, where he served as President until his retirement in 2010.

One the many talents of Ken Barlow was that of being a gifted artist. His artwork can be found in many homes and businesses around the Jackson area.

The phrase, "he never met a stranger" certainly applied to Ken Barlow. He made friends easily and always had a kind work to say. His optimism always brightened the day of those he associated with and the world is a better place for having Ken Barlow around for 76 years.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby and Versie Barlow; his step-father, Bill Scott; and a sister. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Delores Barlow of Ridgeland, MS; a daughter, Dee Dee (Bob) Moore of Ridgeland, MS; and grandchildren, Mary Emily Moore and John Gregory Moore.

Delores, many blessings to you and your family. I have fond memories of both you and Ken. I worked with you at UMMC and later with Ken at MDOT. I learned many lessons from him in my early career, which are still with me. I pray he rests peacefully and your family is comforted.

My deepest sympathy. May you find a comforting thought at Psalms 145:18,19.

Ken was indeed a delight to spend time with. He loved the Lord and was unashamed of the Gospel. He will indeed be missed. Our prayers are with you and your family, Delores.

Delores, We send our heartfelt condolences for your loss. Ken was the first person at our door when we became neighbors,....whether a bottle of champagne "to the Barlows, from the Barlows", or exchanging mail mistakenly put in one of our boxes! We fondly remember the kindnesses he always showed and the smile on his face! God bless...Brenda and Johnny Barlow

Delores, I will always remember the kind thoughtful encouraging notes you sent to me during my Mother's illness and the morning you sat with me during her first surgery. Much love! Praying for you as your window with Ken here on earth, gently lowers and the window of Heaven is raised!

What a wonderful man Ken Barlow was. Worked with him @ TWC and he was the most caring, wittiest person I knew. He loved his family so much. Delores & Dee Dee, he loved you guys so much. I know he was so proud of his grandkids too. I have a painting he painted of Santa Clause that I have always treasure. Had him on my mind last week. Keeping the family in my prayers.

What a shock to learn of Ken's passing. What a pleasure to get to know him, and I always looked forward to the high school reunions and seeing Ken. We've missed them for many years now because of Ralph's declining health, but Ken was always a bright spot. We had career paths in common. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
