TRAVERSE CITY — Kenneth Bryce, Jr., of Traverse City, formerly of Midland, died Thursday morning, May 14, 2009, at MidMichigan Medical Center.
He was born July 11, 1928, in Royal Oak, son of the late Harold Kenneth and Betty Bryce.
Kenneth graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor of arts degree. He also served in the U.S. Armed Forces.
He married the former Beverly Ann Smith on March 23, 1954, in Midland.
Kenneth worked as an architect from 1954 through 1988 with Alden B. Dow Associates and Dow Howell & Gilmore. Kenneth was an avid flyer and passionate bicycler, which led to an extensive bicycle adventure of Alaska and the western United States. He enjoyed hunting and long walks in the woods.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Beverly; his children, Teresa Hayes, Cara (Kevin) Sasse, all of Midland, and David (Kellie) Bryce, of Davenport, Fla.; two grandchildren, Kendra Hayes, of Lansing, and Kiana (Matt) Nafziger, of Illinois; and three great-grandchildren, Shelby, Jacob and Jadon Nafziger. He is also survived by his sister, Donna Barr, of Oxford.
Kenneth's family will receive friends at the Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler St., today, May 16, 2009, from noon to 2 p.m. Private graveside services will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Mount Pleasant.
