Kenneth Bronston “Bud” Stratton, 90, husband of the late Jo Royalty Stratton, passed away December 13, 2024 at the Meadowthorpe Assisted Living and Memory Care in Lexington, KY. Born in Anderson County, KY on May 26, 1934, Kenneth was the son of the late Obed Kenneth Stratton and Madge Beatrice Holt Stratton.
Kenneth was a dedicated member of his community. He co-owned Broughton Dairy with his brother Billy from 1960 to 1978, after having worked at Sunnydale Dairy Products from 1953 to 1959. He also owned and operated Stratton's Restaurant from 1978 to 1982 and served as the IGA Dairy & Frozen Food Manager from 1984 to 1997. A passionate farmer, Kenneth enjoyed the outdoors and had a love for children, animals, and both playing and coaching softball. He also enjoyed driving fast. A proud United States Army veteran, Kenneth served in Korea during the Korean War. He was a member of Hope Community Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Kenneth is survived by his niece/daughter, Jennifer Royalty Foley and her husband Derick; two granddaughters, Emma McKissack and Jocelyn Foley; a brother-in-law Charles Peach; and a sister-in-law Brenda Royalty.
Along with his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Lenora Drummond, Jane Wood, William “Billy” Stratton, Janice Peach, James Silas Stratton, David Michael Stratton, and Geraldine Drury.
Funeral service will be 1:00 PM on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home. Dr. Jeff Eaton will officiate the service. Burial with military honors will follow in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 AM until the time of service on Tuesday.
Serving as pallbearers will be Scotty Wood, Terry Wood, Jeff Wood, Anthony Stratton, Derick Foley, Tripp Humston, Emma McKissack, and Chad Stratton.
Honorary bearers will be Darryl Carter and Eli Brock.
