Traverse City, Michigan
INTERLOCHEN — Kenneth Junior Day, 49, of Interlochen, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008.
Ken was born in Traverse City to the late Marion K. and Julia L. (Swartz) Day on Jan. 4, 1959. Ken grew up in Traverse City and went on to enter the United States Air Force, where he traveled extensively.
Ken was able to pursue his passion for cooking as a kitchen manager for the officers club and General's aide in the Air Force. After retiring from the Air Force in 1994, Ken returned to Michigan.
Ken was outgoing, to say the least, and enjoyed talking to all he came in contact with. He loved to tell stories and will always be remembered for his great sense of humor. Ken enjoyed cooking, tinkering with computers, writing and chatting with friends online, all with his dog Harley by his side.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 30 years, Angelia; daughters, Melinda (Shawn) Schaub of Kewadin, Christine (Mathew Ameel) Day of Traverse City; eight adored grandchildren, Travis, Caleb, Zoe, Dylan, Lily, Alyssa, Serena and Madeline; his mother, Julia; step-mother, Janet; as well as many other loving family members, close friends and co-workers.
Ken was preceded in death by his father, Marion K.; and sister, Linda Sue.
Memorial Services will be held in the spring.
Memorial contributions may be directed to American Diabetes Association or the ASPCA.
The family is being served by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, www.reynolds-jonkhoff.com

Ken was night auditor at the hotels I manage. He was a great guy and great employee. He was a perrenial member of our #1 Club which is the top 10% of our employees. I was fortunate to see him a few days before he passed and he was as upbeat and funny as usual. He will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
