Kenneth Eugene Duncan, 61, of Thomaston, Georgia, a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam, and a sales representative for Thomaston Mills, died at Upson Regional Medical Center in Thomaston on Friday, September 1, 2000. Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, September 2, 2000, 7-9 p.m., at Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home, 628 North Church Street, Thomaston. Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, September 3, 4 p.m., at First Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Edwin L. Cliburn. Burial will be on Sunday, September 3, at South View Cemetery, Thomaston. Contributions may be made to I A Drang Scholarship Fund, c/o Brig. Gen. (Ret.) Art Junot, 1st Cavalry Division Foundation, 30302 North Main Street, Coppers Grove, TX 76522.

DURING THE FALL QUARTER OF 1961 AT GORDON MILITARY COLLEGE IN BARNESVILLE,GEORGIA,KEN,BILLY,JERRY AND MYSELF RODE TO AND FROM SCHOOL TOGETHER FOR MOST OF THE TERM.I THINK ABOUT THOSE DAYS NOW,MORE THAN BEFORE.I DIDN'T KNOW KEN BEFORE THAT TIME AND DIDN'T SEE HIM AGAIN AFTERWARD...BUT HE WAS A FRIEND...A GOOD FRIEND.MY SINCERE CONDOLENCES TO ALL OF KEN'S FAMILY.

I miss you dad all of us do. Chase turned two last March. I dream about you every night.

Having just recently learned that Kenneth was a veteran of Ia Drang, and living in Thomaston, I was particularly saddened to learn of his death. (I also grew up in Silvertown, graduated from Lee in 1954, and served in Vietnam.)
