Kenneth Elwood Grimes passed away on Friday, June 2, 2017. He was born on July 5, 1939 to Leo Grimes and Mildred (Reynolds) Grimes in the Brownsville section of Stowe, VT. He married Priscilla Foss on December 27, 1959, and they enjoyed 57 years together living in Hardwick and Morrisville. He served in the Army where he was stationed in Bad Hersfeld Germany. Ken started work in construction at a very young age. After his time in the service, he and his wife founded their excavating business, Grimes Incorporated in 1972. He worked hard all of his life building ponds, roads and anything that required heavy equipment. For the rare times he wasn't hard at work, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and keeping a barn full of animals. Ken loved listening and dancing to country music. He also enjoyed 4-wheeling and camping.
He is survived by: His wife, Priscilla Grimes of Morrisville, His son, Kenneth Grimes (Sue) of Morrisville, His daughter, Tracy Grimes Before (Dan) of St. Johnsbury, Five grandchildren, Daniel Grimes, Kelli Grimes, Alex Grimes, Jacob Before and Jesse Before. His sister, Erna Bartlett (Gerald), His brother-in-law, Jeffrey Foss, and His sister-in-law, Elenore Grimes. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by: His mother and father, and his siblings, Bernard, Richard, Lolita, Arlan, Raymond, Merton, Etta, Phyllis and Rachel.
Funeral services will be held at the First Congregational and Puffer United Church in Morrisville on Thursday, June 8th at 2:00 with the burial directly following the service at Pleasant View Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are provided by Faith Funeral Home. Online condolences may be shared at faithfh.net.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lamoille Home Health and Hospice at 54 Farr Avenue in Morrisville and Lamoille Area Adult Day Services on 11 Court Street in Morrisville. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Home Health and "Out-and About" for their outstanding care of Kenneth in his last days. The family would also like to thank Ken's special nephew, Steve Colbeth, for all of the help he provided.
