Gene Gwartney you were my best mentor coach. I learned so much from you; my best friend in coaching since 1987. He taught me how to coach.(Show them you care and they will be successful Gene would tell me) It held true to form. Gene's word was his bond. We talked about alot :religion,family, and we shaired tears together when we saw "Saving Private Ryan" in Houston at a coaching clinic. Always in my heart. Jim

I would like to say that "Coach" will truly be missed. He was one of the biggest influences in my life. A wonderful, man, teacher, principal and coach. I remember catching up with him at Western Hills Lodge one summer about 10 yrs after I graduated....we ended up visiting for hours catching up on old times and lost friendships. I will miss him as will many others.
