Kenneth Harrison Obituary

HARRISON, Kenneth R., Jr. Kenneth R. Harrison, Jr., 43, of Wethersfield, loving husband of Laura (Janik) Harrison, died suddenly, (Friday, December 19, 2008) while in Louisiana on a business trip. He was born May 18, 1965, in Hartford and is the son of Mary Ellen (Moran) Harrison of East Hartford and the late Kenneth R. Harrison, Sr. Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by four devoted sons, Michael, Craig, Kenneth III and Alexander Harrison; his brother and business partner, Kevin M. Harrison of East Berlin; his sister, Kathleen M. Harrison of East Hartford; his niece, Katherine Harrison of East Hartford; his paternal grandfather, Clarence Harrison of Wethersfield; his mother-in-law, Antoinette Janik of West Haven; his father-in-law, Edward Janik of West Haven; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Besides his father, he was predeceased by his paternal grandmother, Arlene Harrison and his maternal grandparents, Francis J. and Catherine (Connor) Moran. Ken owned and operated D&L Auto Body & Towing in Berlin with his brother, Kevin for over 20 years and together they more recently embarked on a new adventure, Harrison Environmental Services. Ken will always be remembered for his ambitious, go-getter attitude and his belief that nothing was ever out of reach. He loved conquering challenges along his way and he loved his family dearly. Ken also had a love for towing from a young age and will always be remembered for his purple, yellow and orange wreckers. Ken's goal in life was to make everyone happy. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and many dear friends. Funeral service will be Saturday, December 27, at 9 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Corpus Christi Church, 601 Silas Deane Hwy., Wethersfield. I am very sorry for the loss of Kenneth. I did not know him personally but I served with the brave young man in Iraq. I was one of the military police officers who assisted with the accident and rendered aid to the injured. I know that nothing can take away the loss of a loved one, but I hope that you find peace in knowing that your son gave his life with honor and there are many out there who will remember him for his sacrifice to our country. I know my family will be forever grateful. God Bless and keep you!

My sympathy to the Harrison Family
& the D & L crew.
I just heard about this Jan 14th
from my good friend Dan Dupri.
It seems like yesterday that we
where hanging out in H.S. me,you,Dan.
Then after you worked for
Woodland auto body & towing &
I for Halprines towing & Recovery.
Are passion to start are own towing company. We both tried everything then you made the connection at D & L Auto Body for us
to start D & L Towing in 84&85 you brought
your wrecker and I brought mine we
made a strong go then I decided to join the Army you pushed on and made an Empire of D&L and a great
job of it.
We had a few crazy tows like the
tractor trailer cab on the flatbed
we blew the clutch out on the hill
in Wethersfield we laughed for months it was all in good fun.

We had alot in common both now
in are own ventures, both 43,both have 4 kids.

I see you face every towing
company I see on the road.

Your now larger than life and
you protect us all on the roads everyday & everywhere.

Your kids are lucky to have a true
leader to look up to.They can now
reach for the STARS!!

Your Legend Lives On!!

Mary Ellen and family
I was shocked and saddened to hear of Kenny's passing. You and I met in high school through our mutual friend Rita and then again when we both lived in Mayberry Village where we became close friends. My son Ricky and your Kenny were born 3 days apart. How they loved to play together. I have many fond memories of Kenny as a baby and as a little boy. Our daughters Diane and Kathleen were also close in age. We lost touch years ago but I often thought about you, little Kenny, Kathleen and Kevin. Where do the years go? I am keeping you and your family close to my heart and in my prayers. I just wish that there was something that I could say or do to take away the pain you're feeling. My heart goes out to you and your family.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious

We miss Ken very much. We are blessed to have had the chance to know him and to work with him. His memory will stay with us.

December 24, 2008

What can be said to relieve the shock, sadness, and feeling of loss. Ken was a strong willed person who built himself up after starting with next to nothing. When others said he was nuts for taking on what he did, Ken always made it look easy, as he geared up for his next business venture. Life is so short, its sad that it takes something like this to give us that reminder of how short life can be.
I am sorry for not having a closer relationship with my cousin, he will remain in my heart that is filled with memories, especially those of growing up together.

I will carry him in my heart and I know he will be with us every moment.

We still cant believe Ken is gone. Our hearts go out to you, little Kenny and Alex and your family. Ken was a wonderful man! Always kind and thoughtful. I'll miss his stops when he was cruising by with the Mercedes convertible and pulled into our driveway when he saw Nick and I outside. Last time we had dinner, we promised we would all go to Peppercorns, because he loved Italian food! Now, we can only wish that we did.
