Dear Mary, Shannon, Nancy, Betsy, and Laura,
I was sorry to hear of Ken's death. I have wonderful memories of your family when we lived near you on Broadway Drive. I think of all the childhood memories we shared with the trading fairs, the dress up parades, hula hoops, the fair that the "kids" spent so much summer time preparing for: Betsy telling fortunes in the tent with the "8 ball' , the fish bowl game, etc....You and Ken raised a wonderful family and I also have memories of Ken...

I was lucky enough to work with Ken at the Oregon Journal and The Oregonian. He always had a story, a joke or just a smile that made the impossible seem possible. I will miss him.

It was great to work with Ken at the Journal. His jokes, his laugh and his quick retorts always made it an easy day. After deadline he'd race others through the crosswords, working both across and down at the same time, usually winning. And I always smile when I think of his somewhat graphic description of how hard the rain falls in Portland; it showed his Midwest roots (involving a cow).
