Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home & Crematory - Ardmore Obituary

Kenneth Richard "Ken" Jones

Kenneth R. "Ken" Jones, 87, died peacefully Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at his Claremore, Oklahoma residence following an extended illness. Ken was born July 30, 1935 at Ardmore.  He rejoins his parents the late Dick Jones and Mary Karlick Jones who preceded him in death.

Ken grew up in Ardmore and was a member of the graduating class of Ardmore High School in 1953.  He attended Oklahoma A. & M. College and then Oklahoma State University, receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in Industrial Arts Education in 1961.  He became a manager and technician for several cabinetry and furniture companies including D. Williams Co. and most recently Rambo Cabinetry.

Ken and Jerry Ackenhausen were married October 7, 1960 at Duncan, Oklahoma.  They celebrated sixty-two years of marriage in 2022.  They have lived the last thirty years in Claremore, going there from Tulsa.  He and Jerry had a collaborative and caring relationship.  It was based on mutual support and a deep love for each other.

Ken was very active with all members of the Class of 1953.  He very seldom missed any reunions or other class gathering.  He and Jerry most always attend the quarterly luncheons and the annual Christmas meeting.

Ken had a passion for older autos, and motorcycles.  He once participated in a motorcycle race from the Mexican border to the Canadian Border, crossing the United States.

Ken is survived by his loving wife, Jerry and by a Cousin, Cheryl Erlandsen.

Ken Jones was a kind gentle person; he will be missed, but not forgotten.

Cremation was selected; there will be no services at this time

Ken had a sharp, low key wit that I enjoyed. His long time tag on his truck, is one instance. I remember coming back from California he kept track of all the brands of bikes he saw on the road. I can't do...
