To the Clan Macdonald:

Thanks for keeping this page open for the year -- it allows the tardy among us to finally post a message....

We are both sorry for your loss but know that your spirits are lifted by memories of Ian.

I have some fond ones myself of "the Rev": the man who gave us our first gig @ St. Augustine in "the Village", secured rehearsal space for us @ St. Matthew's and hooked us up with the
'Dutch Connection' so we didn't go homeless in Holland....

I was saddened to learn of Ian's death our family grew up with Ian at Westworth United and I fondly remember his humor, compassion and joyfulness. a source of wisdom and a fountain of silliness is a beautiful description that perfectly captures what I remember about Ian. Humankind has lost a bright light and all who knew him mourn; my heart and condolences go especially to Heather, Jamie, Rory and Derek. I hope your memories sustain you through this difficult time.

Yes, yes - one can never think of Ian without hearing his chuckle. Even in a dire circumstance there was that easy entry to pondering - what next? Ian - a constant, never-ending joy to the world!

Our condolences.

When I think of Ian, I think of laughter and song. My parents thought the world of your family and were so sad to see you leave Cartwright. The music of Common Cup was a constant companion to Dad when he was in the hospital. Take care and hope to see you at the service in Winnipeg.

Cherishing memories of the simmer of 1975 at Sutherland Mission when Ian and Fred McNally were my supervising pastors. I was grateful to learn that one did not have to give up one's sense of humour to be a United Church Minister.

Ian MacDonald is a name, a man, a memory who will remain with us as long as we can remember joy, wisdom and laughter. My heart goes out to you Heather and the family. Carry his spirit with you. Love, Joan

Our sincere sympathy to Heather and family at this very sad time. Ian was much loved by our family both at Westworth and Augustine in Winnipeg. His creative spirit and his love of life he shared through his ministry will be missed by many. We were blessed to know him.

Ian was one of the spirits who enlivened life at United College in the early 1960s. He will be missed.
