Not sure what to say?

Ken was the best teacher I ever had, including college and law school. He made literature come alive and inspired great class discussions and debates. I feel so lucky to have had him as my high school English teacher.

My deepest condolences to the Mattfield family. Mr. Mattfield was my favorite teacher at Governor Livingston High School more than 40 years ago. He taught me to love poetry and life.

The Summit Lions will miss you.
Our prayers are with you Catherine and family

Kenneth Mattfield

I didn’t work directly with Ken as I was a secretary in the Board of Education Office, but knew him well for all the years that he worked for the Springfield Board of Ed. When ever he saw me there was a great hello, how are you and chatted for a short time. Even after his retirement when he would come and visit. His comment would be, “Am I getting taller or are you getting shorter” He was loved by all who knew him and will be sorely missed. My deepest condolences to...

Ken was much loved by all. He made me laugh and think and took great joy in doing both as well. He will be greatly missed. My heart goes out to his family and friends.

I remember Ken when I was a student at ALJ in Clark, and later when my own children were in HS, in those days he was Mr. Mattfield. Later I knew him as a Lion and served under him as a Zone Chair, recently he had just moved down the street here in Garwood. He was an asset where ever he was and will be sorely missed by all those who's lives his touched. God Bless Ken's family during this difficult time.

I will sorely miss Ken. He was an individual who I considered "immortal." I always knew that Ken would be at a Lions meeting or willing to emcee yet one more retirement party for a fellow UCRHSD#1 retiree. His joie de vivre, love of family, dedication to others, and willingness to serve were unsurpassed. May God bless Ken and his family. lad
