I was deeply honored to be Ken's employee for four years and to have learned so much from him at staff meetings and beyond. The United States and the world are much safer because of Ken's foresight, tenacity, good humor, sharp elbows, political acumen, diplomatic fortitude and loyalty to the cause.

I am honored to have worked for Ken as my first job out of college. From his colorful stories to his wisdom about politics, Ken provided me with valuable life lessons about working in foreign policy. I am lucky to have called him a mentor and friend, and his family will remain in my thoughts and prayers.
