Kenneth Dean Neahring

Thanks, Coach, for your dedication to everything you did. You taught me to be a solid basketball player, a game that I was able to enjoy with and pass on skills I learned from you, to my kids and now to my grandchildren. Your countless hours as my football coach are appreciated, as well. May you rest in peace knowing that you made a difference in so many lives.

I am so sorry to hear of Ken´s death. I worked with Ken at the Dixon State School Department of Mental Health in 1969. We both enjoyed our time working with children in activities; and we were able to have a twenty plus clients qualify for the Special Olympics in Columbus, Ohio. Unfortunately the funding fell through an we were not able to attend. We both pursed teaching, Ken went to Franklin Grove and I went to Marengo . We did cross paths a number of times via athletics or the Cubs...

Ken and I would often meet up on the driving range at Eaglebrook Country Club. I called him coach and he always said I could help him more than he could help me with my golf swing. He was a very nice man.
