Not sure what to say?

Dear Lord,

Rusty's on his way! Let him run the show. He knows what he's doing!

In 1957 Rusty had a special day on his radio program at KDOK TylerTX - "G" Day. We love him and will miss him.

Myself and Joe Gracey both worked for Rusty at KCWM-FM ( now KPLX) in Ft Worth while we were both still in high school. This was when Am radio was king. They only cared about the FM signal to keep Muzak playing on the subcarrier. We beat KBUY without even trying.

Rusty's persona
l energy and drive was amazing. One of the best play by play people ever. KYKX has never been the same station since they sold it.

Thanks for some great memories, a great...

Rusty and I shared a bond quite unique - his daughter Kim and my Daughter Lee Anna Maples were best friends and lost their lives together. Condolences to his family. Eleanor Brumley

I haven't seen Rusty in so many years. Our Mom's were first cousins and I spent many Saturday mornings visiting at his home. I remember the cucumber shed and how it provided me with extra money for the summer. I always thought of Rusty as a hero who had made it big in radio. I know he was always a hero to you also. Very sorry to hear of your lost, but know that he leaves behind many warm memories and lots of love.

I have many memories of Rusty. I enjoyed working with Rusty, Larry Wilson, Dave Gotcher, Ken Reynolds, when Bobby Wheeley and I worked Pine Tree, Gilmer, Daingerfield and Pittsburg football games on KYKX. Those were great days. He was a real creative radio guy and taught me a lot about sports play by play. He will be missed.

I never forgot you & that will always stay true.
Charlotte Gale Sutton Tyler, Tx.

There was only one R2 and he will be missed.
