FRANKFORT — Kenneth Leroy Rommel Sr., 83, of Frankfort, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007, in Hardwood, Michigan. He was born May 29, 1924, in Owosso, the son of Faunt Leroy and Fern (Hillis) Rommel.
Ken was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy; and he was a member of the Frankfort American Legion Post 221. He was also a member of the Lighthouse Chapel Church of God in Benzonia.
Ken retired from H.W. Jenks in Frankfort, where he had been employed for over 15 years.
In his spare time, Ken enjoyed hunting, fishing and raising rabbits.
Ken is survived by his wife, Vivian; his children, William Rommel of Frankfort, Roy Rommel of Frankfort, Kenneth (Tina) Rommel of Bloomington, Ill., and Ruthann (Daniel) Sena of Hardwood; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his brother, Robert (Evelyn) Rommell of Elberta; his sister, Irma Hency of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Jean Matthews and Retha Bigley; and his brother, Edmond Rommell.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007, at the Bennett-Barz Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Gilmore Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 11 a.m. until time of services.
