Not sure what to say?

So sorrow. Ken and I had good working relations working together at UAB.

For almost five years Ken Roozen and I shared responsibility for the Graduate School at UAB. Together we helped increase the advanced research profile and the number and variety of doctoral programs across the University. This was the closest and, in many ways, most rewarding professional collaboration in my experience. Ken Roozen was a friend and gifted academic leader who made significant contributions throughout his career.

I was chair of the Psychology Dept for 26 years and frequently worked with Ken for many years. He was an outstanding administrator who is one of the few individuals who was instrumental in building UAB. He was fair and extremely helpful to both ends of campus. This was especially important when we were trying to establish Academic Affairs as a substantial entity on a national scale. Without leadership like that provided by Ken Roozen, most universities would fail. He was special!

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

Steve and I are heartbroken to hear this news. The RANS (Roozen, Abbe, Nepomuceno and Smith) family get together were priceless and being with the group post kids was also special. We are so happy to have spent a few days in Orange Beach with Ken and Sandy last fall. And he was still up to a tennis game, chess match or other fun games. We love you Sandy and will miss Ken.
