Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc. - Hellertown Obituary

Kenneth W. Sem Jr., died November 27, 2024.  He was born in Minot, ND and the son of Kenneth W. Sem, Sr. and Ida C. Sem.  He is survived by his wife: Christine (Frey) Sem; sisters: Delores Urevick of Louisville, KY, Frances McIlroy of Vancouver, WA; brother: Ronald Sem of Wausau, WI; sons: Kenton and Kipton Sem; grandchildren: Zach and Molly Sem.  He worked at the former Bethlehem Steel for 39 years.  Please remember him for his dry sense of humor, his enchanting stories about growing up in North Dakota, his love of sports, always rooting for the underdog and his wonderful friendships to many, living and past!  He was from a solid ND family with a strong mid-western no nonsense way of life.  He was stoic in showing his emotions, but had lots of love underneath all that strength and common sense.  Please honor Ken by telling your stories to friends and family.  Play a game of golf, a poker round, go fishing and participate in any sport that makes you happy for its good sportsmanship, talent and humble excellence!  He was a man who loved the beauty of nature, the creatures within and all good things.  Be happy.  Celebrate his life as you knew him.  Online memorial tributes at www.heintzelmancares.com.

Not sure what to say?

Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Chris. Barry remembers years of good times with Ken bowling, golfing and sharing some brewskies at the Steel Club. He refers to him as one of the nicest people ever! Take comfort that he was a friend to so many and a wonderful husband to you. Treasure the memories of good times and your faith will carry you through! God bless. Love and Prayers, Barry and Carol

Chris, we're so sorry for your loss. Al and I remember good times at Silver Creek. We wish you peace and healing. You'll be in my thoughts and have our sympathy.

To the Sem family and Sue, sorry to hear of your loss.

Kenny and I transferred from Burns Harbor to Bethlehem at the same time in 1973 and spent a lot of time together in our younger days. I have many fond memories of good times with Kenny while we were temporarily living at the Hotel Bethlehem, working at BSC and spending many leisure hours at Silver Creek. He was a good friend, great American and all around good guy who will be missed by many.

A true friend in every sense of the word , knew Kenny through the Steel Engineering Dept and privileged to know him personally. One of a kind in.so many ways, we lose and Heaven gains another, rest easy my friend. May the memories give the family peace.

Hey Chris, I’m really sorry to hear about Kenny. I feel your pain! Just be glad you had good times together, remember them to help you get thru this awful time. I found it will help to talk to him, he’s there with you in spirit and can send a sign that he’s there! Ric has sent me and the kids signs that he’s with us, I find it comforting. Take one day at a time, it’s the only way to get thru this. If you would like to talk let me know.
Love ya!

These are a few of my favorite things about Kenny:
Hours and hours of laughter on the patio at Silver Creek.
Breakfasts at the Jeff's and Wanderer's.
Budweiser can pyramids.
Afternoons in the Oplinger's backyard pool.
Lehigh/Lafayette parties at the Marino's.
Many, many eye-rolling jokes!!

My deepest sympathies to Chris. Ken was a wonderful person who will be deeply missed by many.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

One of the good guys.
