Coach Simmons was a great man and teacher of wrestling. I was fortunate to know him as a young wrestler competing against his Centerville Elks and as a coach in my adult years. I considered him a good friend and a tough competitor. He always carried himself in a way that you knew he was a Marine---head high, shoulders back. His handshake was a crusher. Heaven has gained a wonderful person, an honored veteran, and a first class coach. Best wishes to his family.
