I too remember Dad cooking Sunday breakfasts. That was his specialty. He grilled too but when he cooked breakfast, it was family time. Grits, eggs, bacon, sausage and BISCUITS! nom nom. He was a draftsman and engineer for our local shipbuilding industry. He was a child of the depression, so there wasn't a thing he wouldn't do to be frugal. He wasn't particularly gifted but highly intelligent, and this provided a home for us until we were married And again when we'd return after life failures....

My ex wife and I were married 30 years, together with dating, 33 or so. It is needless to say. her family became mine. Her Father passed away yesterday. He was a spiritual, country, coarse, strong willed, pig headed man. He was of a generation that. "did" not whine about their plight, they just got the job done.
