I knew Ken both professionally and personally. When Dr. William Sears started Alcoholism Research and Training, Inc, on an NIAAA demonstration grant to train 45 masters level therapists in alcoholism treatment for two weeks at a time, I was selected by Dr. Sears to be a Health Educator on the project. I was a drinking alcoholic who knew nothing about alcoholism except how to drink destructively. Dr. Sears, Ken Wells, Richard Weedman, Janee Parnegg, and Kay D'Angelo were all supportive of me...

I was lucky enough to have gotten my intern hours at CPI way back in the late 90s. I wanted to continue on there but Ken wouldn't let me. I wasn't confident I was ready to leave but Ken said I was and he had to give me a gentile nudge out of the nest but he was right, I was ready and able to fly on my own. Thank you Ken, for touching my life and everyone's life that was lucky enough to know you. You truly made the world a better place.

I was one of the fortunate he took-in for training to fulfill requirements for my degree. In actuality, he became more of a mentor to me. He joked often about an alleged (I think) visit with his urologist. He told the story a few times. I spoke with him long distance about a week before he passed. My thanks to Fr.
