Kenneth J. West
1959-2015
Kenneth Jean West, 55 years old, passed away in his home on July 6, 2015. He was a very intelligent engineer who was loved by many. He was a graduate from Scarborough High School, then on to Texas A&M. He loved remote control planes and sailboats and was even a member of an RC Sailboat Club. He enjoyed sailing with his new friends Bob & Phil. Ken loved the outdoors and camping. His last trip was to the Guadalupe River two weeks ago and had planned a trip to Colorado to do some white water rafting. He is predeceased by Brother Allen West. He is survived by his wonderful parents Wanda and Harvey West. Sister Jeanelle & Husband David Gunn. Brother Greg West & wife Jill. His wife and sweetheart Mary Nell Sicola West. Three sons, James, Ian, and Patrick his wife, Mary. A stepson Charlie Hobartsch & wife Tiffanie. Three step daughters who he always told "Shop till you Drop", Tiffany Hobartsch & fiancé Jeffrey Myers, Caprina Baxter and Husband Jason Price, Maranda Baxter and fiancé Cody Thompson. Multiple Nieces & Nephews & Grandchildren. Pallbearers Patrick, James, & Ian West, Charlie Hobartsch, Jason Price and Cody Thompson. Honorary Pall Bearers Brad & Justin Gunn. He was a very special man. He was generous, respected, and genuine, and most of all loved. Please join us in celebrating his life Monday July 13, 2015 from 6-9 PM @ Cypress Fairbanks Funeral Home 9926 Jones Rd, Houston Texas 77065. Services will be held at Cypress United Methodist Church, 13403 Cypress N. Houston Rd., on Tuesday July 14, 2015. Burial following at Perry Cemetery.

Cousin Ken West was a great genealogist, Texas historian and man, who taught me about my fourth great grandfather Gadi West, who came to Bon Wier/Newton County, then Zavalas Colony, in 1829, crossing the Sabine River into what was then Mexican Territory. We cherish his memory.

We mourn the loss of Cousin Kenneth West of Texas, a wonderful person who taught me much about my mother's West family from Texas. I first met Ken in a genealogy group where he had the will of my fourth great grandfather Gadi F. West, early settler of East Texas and Harris County. He taught me about the great heritage and impact of Gadi, who was given a land grant of 4000 acres north of Houston, including the town named for him, Westfield.
