Kermit E. Ruch, 85, of Bangor, PA, passed away Friday, March 11th, at Pocono Health System Visiting Nurse & Hospice Care, Hopice House in East Stroudsburg, PA.
Kermit was born in Washington Twp., PA on May 6, 1930, a son of the late John E. and Emma (Remel) Ruch.
He was the husband of Lillian A. (DeMarcantonio) Ruch. They celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary last July. Kermit was employed as a truck driver at the former Remey Pallet Co. in Bangor, PA, until retiring in 2000. He also worked on the Ruch family farm in Washington Twp., PA. He was a 1948 graduate of Bangor High School. Kermit served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and mowing grass.
He was a member of Flicksville United Church of Christ in Bangor, PA, where he was a member of the Young Adult Sunday School Class. Kermit was a member and former President of the Flicksville Cemetery Assoc., where he also served as caretaker for many years. He was also a member of the Roseto Rod and Gun Club and the Blue Valley Bowling League.
In addition to his wife, Lillian, Kermit is survived by two daughters, Barbara Powlus and her husband Robin and Debra LaRosa and her husband Joseph, a son, Allen Ruch and his wife Beth, 6 granddaughters, Chelsea, Sarah, Melissa, Jen, Courtney and Brittany, 3 great grandchildren, Lilly, Joey, and Olivia, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
Funeral services will be held at the Flicksville United Church of Christ, 1337 Lower South Main Street, Bangor, PA at 11 AM on Wednesday, March 16th, with Rev. Lori Esslinger and Pastor Larry Rissmiller officiating. Friends and family are invited to call Wednesday from 10 AM until 11 AM in the church. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the James B. Gaffney Funeral Home, Bangor, PA. Online condolences may be made at gaffneyparsons.com.
