Not sure what to say?

My dad named me after Kerry, when I looked for him when I became an adult I found that he had passed. I am sorry he never got to hear the story of how I got my name. I would love to connect with the family to tell the story and to honor Kerry.

I became aware of Kerry Dineen's passing through the Summer 2016 edition of USD magazine. He did indeed play baseball, but as one person has alluded to, he played guard on the Chula Vista High School basketball team.

Circa 1970, CVHS played Helix High for the CIF Basketball Championship. Helix had a center named Bill Walton, a 7 footer, while I think CVHS had Don Weimer, who was 6'7" or 6'8". In consequence, Helix won the championship by about 20.

However, in the closing...

On behalf of my siblings, we would like to express our deepest sympathies on your loss. My father the late Robert W. Murphy SC.USN ret and Kerry's dad knew one another well from the time my father ran the Navy Commissary stores and Bill was the Vice President of Sunbeam Baking. I remember at the picnics playing football with Kerry and Bill. My brother Dr. Mark E. Murphy was at USD at the same time as Kerry although I don't believe there paths crossed My youngest brother Dr. Brian P. S. Murphy...

I remember Kerry as a carefree and happy person!Always with a cute smile on his face! And if anyone ever needed anything, he was right there to help. He always had his friends by his side!
My favorite memory of Kerry is he had a neck name for me "Toots " and would always be giving me Tootsie rolls!!! So now everytime I see a tootsie roll I think of Kerry!
Kerry, you will be deeply missed by many!
Love You! Rest in peace.

Kerry was always the helpful caring guy. Played basketball along with all the other CVHS team members.
Met him in Denver when I lived up there in 1978. His team were playing the Denver Bears. Got hold of the Triple A team he was on. He called back and he took time to have dinner with me and talk about how he was doing and about all that was going on in CV. Kind, thoughtful and always had a moment for me. I truly appreciated such a great guy as Kerry. The world has lost a great man.
