With sadness, love, and profound gratitude the family of Kevin Braden announces his peaceful passing on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 after medical challenges. His spirit has passed, and we now bid him farewell and welcome him to his new destiny.
Kevin Anthony Braden was born September 12, 1959 to the union of Early Braden and Gloria Braden in New Orleans, Louisiana. Kevin was preceded in death by both his parents and brother Brian.
Kevin received his education in the public school system of New Orleans,attending Craig Elementary, Bell Junior High, and graduating from John McDonogh High School in the class of 1979.
Kevin began working at the age of 16 in residential housekeeping for multiple private homeowners in the French Quarter. Concurrently, he held a position at Charity Hospital in housekeeping for many years. Throughout his work history, he also gained experience in the hospitality industry with several local restaurants. Later on, Kevin transitioned to employment on the railroad and with sewage and water board before retiring.
Known as 'Klinck' in the Lafitte project neighborhood throughout his life, he spent much of his time with neighborhood kids on the basketball court, basketball being his first love. He also had a passion for football, with the New Orleans Saints being one of his favorite teams. Additionally, he enjoyed watching women's basketball, wrestling, and track and field. He was fond of old TV shows, with 'Hogan's Heroes' being his favorite, from which he derived his nickname based on one of the characters.
Kevin is survived by his daughter Brittney Cage, his sister Shona Braden, nephews Brian, Jules, and Tyrell Collins, aunt Dolores Joseph, cousin Shivan Joseph, and devoted friend Suzanne Brown, Gregory Lucas and Vee-jay Lewis
who supported him in his time of need. He is also survived by his extended family and friends.
