Kevin-Grubb-Obituary

Kevin Grubb

Obituary

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Virginia police are investigating after former NASCAR driver Kevin Grubb was found dead in a Richmond-area motel room.

Henrico County Police spokesman Lt. Doug Perry said Thursday that personnel at the Alpine Motel discovered the Mechanicsville native in his room Wednesday.

Investigators did not speculate on the cause of death, but officials said there doesn't appear to be anything unusual or suspicious at the scene.

The 31-year-old was suspended from NASCAR indefinitely in 2006 because he refused to submit to a random drug test following the Busch Series race at Richmond International Raceway.

Grubb was previously suspended in March 2004 for failing a drug test. But he agreed to random testing as part of his reinstatement. Grubb's career began with NASCAR's lower-tier series in 1997.

Love you cousin

Thinking about you today. Your mom is with you now.

He will be missed

The time between Earth and Heaven is short. We will miss Kevin, but always remember a lasting good impression. Competitive and dedicated, with honesty and integrity. You can't beat that. He is number 1, somewhere beyond our comprehension. I pray for the family, for comfort and faith in the future.

Our prayers are with you

sorry to hear of your loss

I lost my own beautiful red headed son who was 27 at the time to horrific suicide. He was very depressed at the time because he had not been with his 3 year old son for 2 years. He started drinking when he lost his sister at the WTC in 2001 and never "recovered". You are in my prayers and thoughts. It will take a long, long time to accept his death. Your son was such a handsome man in the photo the Richmond Times published. No bond is as great as that between a parent and child. My...
