Rigby Harting and Hagan Funeral Home - Media Obituary

Kevin Kennard (age 66), originally of Newark, DE, died in his home in Drexel Hill, PA on Monday, August 3, 2015.

He was a graduate of Newark High School (class of '67) and the University of Delaware (class of '81).

Kevin served in the United States Marines from 1968-1972. He spent 14 months serving overseas, including 5 months in Vietnam. He received a Combat Action Ribbon and was honorably discharged from the service with the rank of Sergeant.

In his younger years Kevin enjoyed making models and skiing. Throughout his life he was an avid reader and could tell you the name of a book just based on a description of the cover.

Kevin was preceded in death by his Father, Roger Kennard, and his mother, Geraldine (Wright) Kennard. He is survived by his daughters, Kaitlin and Megan Kennard, his grandson, David Hayman, and his siblings Charles Kennard, Mike Kennard, and Mary Ann Kennard MacDonald.

Kevin is remembered for his unique sense of humor and his fierce love for his daughters and grandson. He is dearly missed.

A memorial service will be held in his honor on Saturday, August 29th at 2pm at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Delaware County.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Coatesville VA Medical Center at 1400 Blackhorse Hill Road, Attn: Voluntary Service, Coatesville, PA 19320. Checks can be made payable to the "Department of Veterans Affairs" and please include in the memo: "In memory of Kevin Kennard for PTSD/ Patient Library".

Not sure what to say?

He was one of my favorite humans.

Go with God and rest in peace, Kevin

Kevin was a fine man, indeed. I worked with him at Borders back in the late 90s. His two girls were his world! I am very sorry to hear about his passing. It was an honor to have known him. Rest In Peace, Kevin.

God Bless and RIP. Prayers are with your family. A good man with a big heart.

I am so sorry to read this! I went to Newark High with Kevin, we were buddies! He was a great guy!

Go in peace, my friend. You earned it.

miss you Kevin
