Not sure what to say?

I remember Kevin from our days as kids at St. Joseph´s Elementary School in Astoria, Queens. His mom and my mom were Irish immigrants who became friends as they often shared their common immigrant experience. I remember Kevin as a caring, kind, pleasant, honest kid with an abundance of interest in the wellbeing of others. I had the privilege of serving Mass with Kevin and his brother Neil at St. Joseph´s. I later met Kevin as a student at Fordham. Still the same kind, decent, caring...

I was a boyhood classmate and altar server with Kevin at St. Joseph's School and Church in Astoria, Queens. He was well respected by our classmates and my family, especially my Mom who thought the world of him. I have many funny stories about Kevin but suffice it to say he went out of his way to help others and, no surprise, his career was just that - helping others. The last I saw him was in Grand Central Station 8 years ago. Sorry to have missed his funeral but I just found out today...

This was certainly a shock to learn of Kevin's passing. We first met in high school where we both attended Cathedral Prep in Brooklyn. But I would see Kevin occasionally at the alumni reunions organized by Steve Werner. It was always a pleasure to talk to him. I now live in St Louis. Missouri and am unable to attend any of the services. My sympathy goes out to his family.

I am sorry that I cannot attend the wake or funeral. Kevin and I first met at Cathedral and remained good friends after I left Cathedral, enrolled at Iona and was drafted in the Army. We were together when he met his wife Betty and when I met my wife Anne. While we have not been in touch, except for a visit he and Joanne made to DC when I worked for the Senate, I will miss him!
