CLOSED-Harvey Family Funeral Home Obituary

Kevin James MORIARTY

A life-long resident of Seattle, WA, died unexpectedly on March 28, 2015 at the age of 61 from a sudden heart attack.

Kevin is survived by his wife, Cathy Moriarty (nèe Flaherty); his brother Patrick Moriarty (Marsha Hahn), his sisters Kathleen Lovejoy (Mike) and Theresa Moriarty (special friend Craig Wilson); his sister-in-law Leslie Moriarty; his children, Casey (Susan), Tim, Mary Kost (Jimmy), Brigid, and Theresa; and his four grandchildren Madeline and James Kost and Claire and Beatrice Moriarty; and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother, Stephen Moriarty; his mother, Theresa Moriarty; and his father, Jack Moriarty.

Kevin was born in Seattle on November 12, 1953 to Jack and Theresa Moriarty. He graduated from Queen Anne High School in 1972, and attended the University of Washington Professional Actor Training Program. On March 18, 1978, he married his soulmate and other half Cathy, a fellow life-long resident of Seattle.

Kevin was a devoted husband and father who always put his family first. Without fail, he could be counted on to provide wise advice in times of distress and comfort in times of sorrow. His incredible Irish sense of humor, infectious laugh, and kind heart brought happiness and joy to so many.

Kevin had a passion for the theater and wrote a play titled "A Rose for Danny" that he perfected over many years. The 3-act play was based on the true story of the life of Kevin's grandfather. The play was produced last March thanks to the generous support of his friends and family for which he was so grateful.

He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.

Recitation of the Rosary will be Wednesday, April 1, at 10:30 a.m. followed by Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. BOTH at St. Anne's Catholic Church. Fr. Lyle Konen, C.S.s.R. will officiate.

Our family was so sorry to hear about Kevin's untimely passing. I was grateful to be able to leave work to attend his funeral. What a turnout & what a testament to the person he was in this life. We are all comforted in knowing that he's in heaven where he will be welcomed by our Lord & all of Kevin's loved ones who are waiting for him there. Our thoughts & prayers are with his family for their tremendous loss & difficult times ahead.

Dear Terry, Cathy & Family. I was so shocked to hear of Kevin's passing today. My memories go back many yrs ago when he was little...teasing him & he back to me. Always sensitive, but full of humor. May the good Lord fill you w/the Peace & Love that only He can give during this time of great sorrow. Blessings to you All. Love, Mary Beck & Dave Courtney.
