I learned an enormous amount from him and I still remember things he said about particular poems. I am still so sad that he is gone and terribly regretful that I did not renew our friendship when I had the chance.

Dear Andrea and Ben,
You've never met me, but I Kevin and I were in a seminar together at Brown University, and he immediately impressed me as the most brilliant person in the class. He would frequently remain quiet through the first half of the discussion, and then, when he was ready, burst into a blazingly original soliloquy of interpretation and argument.
We were good friends for a few years and then lost touch with each other, but he'll always remain etched in my memory...
