Not sure what to say?

Fr. Kevin touched three generations of my family. He first met my mom (Sue) and late aunt (Sharon) Strametz at St. Francis Academy in the 1960s.

He married my mom and Dad (Robert Funk); baptized me and me three siblings (Rob, Amy, Molly); and married all four of us. He was an enduring influence throughout my life and not only inspired me in my career as a book and magazine editor, but also gave me profound spiritual strength. Outside of a biological father, I can not think of how one...

Our Dearest Fr. Shanley exemplified compassion, care of humanity, holism, partnership and dignity of the person. We shall cherish his kind and gentle ways. He shall always remain God's faithful and loving servant, in our hearts, our souls and in our memories.

Rest in Peace Father Kevin.

I attended many classes in Irish history and Irish literature taught by Father Shanley. He was a wonderful teacher and storyteller. His articles in the Irish American and other newspapers were excellent; Father Shanley was a great ambassador for the Irish people. He will be missed. May he rest in peace.

I know the angels danced the day that Father Kevin Shanley presented himself at the gates of heaven. My very dear friend, rest in peace.

I knew of Fr. Shanley from having been in the Carmelite seminary system for my high school years. I later regularly read his column in the Irish-American News and had occasion to meet him at Niagara-on-the-Lake a few years back when I was attending some of the plays at the annual (George Bernard) Shaw Festival. The people at the Shaw will miss Father Shanley's reviews for the newspaper. His work no doubt attracted people from the Chicago area to travel up to Niagara to see the stage...

I am saddened to learn of Father Shanley's passing. He was dynamic, inspirational and above all,a good, humble man. His God given gifts of humour, eloquence and Muldoon fables will not be forgotton. May he rest in eternal peace.

My sincere sympathy to the family. Father Kevin taught me a lot about journalism and written communication. May he rest in peace.
