Chambers Funeral Homes - Cleveland Obituary

KEVIN H. STROH, age 82. Passed away peacefully on September 12, 2023 after 58 years of marriage to his beloved wife Maureen (nee McGinty); loving father of Patrick Stroh, Eileen Herbert, M.D. (Joseph), Kathleen Stroh and Mary Sponseller (Thomas); dear grandfather of Kevin, James and Mary Herbert and Molly and Kerry Sponseller; brother of Marynell Jewett (Thomas), Thomas Stroh (Karen), David Stroh (Joan) and Gerald Stroh (Irene); caring uncle and cousin to many.

Kevin was a long time friend of Bill W. and Dr. Bob. He was a proud alumnus of St. Ignatius High School Class of 1958 and John Carroll University Class of 1964. He worked for Ohio Bell/Ameritech for 28 years as a manager and was a 17 year volunteer on the National Ski Patrol. There was nothing better than skiing in the East and in the West with his family and friends.  He was well known for his voracious laugh and light hearted perspective on life.  To wit: for years he still hung around with buddies from high school years whether it be golfing, skiing, poker, Scrabble and the like.  Upon retirement Kevin pursued real estate where he took great pleasure in helping others find beautiful homes for themselves and their families.

He was active in St. Patrick Church (Bridge Ave.) where he served as a long time Wedding Coordinator with his wife Maureen and as a Eucharistic Minister before becoming ill.

Funeral Mass Monday, September 18, St. Patrick Church (3602 Bridge Ave. Cleveland) at 11:00 AM. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call at CHAMBERS FUNERAL HOME of CLEVELAND, 4420 ROCKY RIVER DR. AT PURITAS SUNDAY 1-4 PM. In lieu of flowers contributions to the Campus Ministry or the Jesuit Community of  St. Ignatius High School, 1911 West 30th Street, Cleveland, OH 44113  for students considering a Jesuit Vocation.

Not sure what to say?

I only learned today of Kevin's passing. He and I were in several classes together at JCU in the early 60s. I recall good times in the cafeteria and gym. He was a wonderful MAN FOR OTHERS. Wish I had known before now. Condolences to Maureen and family.

I had the pleasure of having him as my Poppy during my childhood. Even as he got to the very end, he was still at his game. I can't believe he's now been gone for over 6 months. May he enjoy his rest. We all got our eye on him.

It seems like yesterday that we were 10 year old cousins and ran around like monkeys at Stroh Family gatherings in Cleveland and Erie, PA.

Played golf with Kevin, Dave and Jerry several years ago. I was amazed by his upbeat demeanor and constant encouragement and good humor . Very positive person!

I was so sorry to hear of Kevin's passing. I will always remember his smile and laugh at Stroh gatherings. Rest in peace, Kevin.

There are many fond memories from our days at St Ignatius and beyond. Maureen, condolences to you and your family. Tim Deegan

Mo, we are so sorry for your loss. I always looked forward to seeing Kevin at those Stroh parties.

Kevin, you will be missed! I'm glad we had a great conversation a few weeks ago. Although I'm miles away in S. Carolina we still felt like close friends. Many a meetings and out to Cooks Forest were some educational and truly fun times also!
You are loved and will be missed. Glad for the beautiful memories!
