Kidd Jordan was a jazz saxophonist and educator who played alongside artists like Ray Charles (1930-2004), Ornette Coleman (1930–2015), Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin (1942–2018), Cannonball Adderley (1928–1975), and R.E.M., and taught jazz artists such as Wynton and Branford Marsalis, and Donald Harrison.

I was a student of Bethune High School. He came in like a force of nature. Put his heart and soul into teaching and sharing his talents and love of music with those now realizing the talents of the man now standing before them. With little resources or funds to help, he made a small school band a source of pride for our people in the parish of St. Charles. He taught my brothers and my husband at Bethune and SUNO. Remembering Kidd Jorda

I am immensely saddened to hear of the death of Edward “Kidd” Jordan, a magnificent and magnanimous musician and human being, whom I was privileged and blessed to befriend and make music with.
