Hurt………Kimberly “Kim” Crews Barker, age 60 of Hurt, died Sunday, June 25, 2023 at her residence.    


Born January 31, 1963 in Halifax County, she was a daughter of the late Alonza Merritt Crews and Anne Nichols Crews.  She was predeceased by one brother, Robert Crews and by her step-mother, Harriett Crews.  Mrs. Barker loved her dog, “Molly and her cat, “Ms. Kitty”.  She also loved reading, and her flower garden, especially her sunflowers.      


She is survived by her husband, Bennie Barker of the residence; one daughter, Amber Lynn Barker and fiancé, Traine Lahr of Bristol, VA; two brothers, Billy Crews and wife, Lisa of Scottsburg, and Charles Crews and wife, Christy of Nathalie; one grandchild, Oaklynn Lynn Lahr; two nieces, Taylor Crews and Katie Crews; and special friends, Angelina “Angie” Barker and husband, Lester, and Nancy Priest.


Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Brady Willis.  Burial will follow in Altavista Memorial Park.


The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.

Bennie so sorry for your loss

Kim was the sweetest person. My mom thought a lot of her. I was so very sorry to hear of her passing. I am keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.

GOD bless family and praying for Bennie and all of family, sad but we all will face this someday.

My wife and I are going to miss her. She always brought a smile to our faces and hearts every time we saw her. She will truly be missed.

I worked with Kim at Walmart she was a very nice person I pray God will be with her family at this difficult time

Kim and l worked together for years . She was a joy to be around. She told the truth and made me laugh. I will surely miss you.
