Kim Kaminis Obituary

KAMINIS, KIM Kim, 65, predeceased by his beloved father, Clinton and his beloved mother Patricia, passed away at his home December 10, 2013, surrounded by his devoted wife Silvia, daughter Cristina, sister Karen, brother Arthur, niece Chanel, sister-in-law Mabel, life long friend Greg, and nurse Marie. He is also survived by cousins in Florida, South Carolina, California, and his dear Aunt Marilyn Brankovich in L.A. Kim grew up in Mexico City and lived in Florida since 1983. He combined his love of travel and his business career as an exporter of building products to the Caribbean and Central America. Inspired by National Geographic magazine, he spent 18 months traveling South-East Asia alone at the age of 27 and was particularly fascinated by India. He also camped all over Mexico while he lived there until the age of 35.Kim loved to read, particularly history and normally had 2 or 3 books going at once. He played tennis since the age of 12 and loved to relax firing up the bracero and have a barbecue in his backyard. A nice sense of humor and affable manner, Kim had many friends. Kim will be buried in Tarpon Springs, FL at 1:30 PM Wednesday, December 18 at Cycadia Cemetery. Pallbearers are his brother Arthur, brother in law Bill Bottorf, cousin Bill Platt, cousin Kevin Platt and friends: Greg Leddy, Robert Valdez, Elias Burgos, George Stamas, and Thompson Davis. A wake will be held at Caballero Rivero Woodlawn Funeral Home, on Saturday Dec 14 from 3:00-7:00 PM, 11655 SW 117th Ave, Miami. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to cancer research or your local library.

I will always treasure our day in Tepoztlan at the Kaminis "house" which was an empty lot. Horses and a picnic. Kim was always gregariously engaged with all and funny!

My dear Kim,
A year has passed since your passing and a day hasn't gone by since then when I haven't thought of you and missed your earthly presence. I feel that you and all those who have left us are now everywhere - you certainly are in my memory, in my memories, in all those wonderful moments I reflect on, when we were young and full of hopes and dreams, always on the way to fulfilling them. You are always there, as my "cuate", as my dearest friend. You should know that Silvia and Cristina are doing well, as are Arthur and Karen - and all of us who you touched are moving forward, inspired by your love of this life and intent on living our remaining years to the fullest, as you would have. Dame un poco mas tiempo y te voy alcanzando - y ya nos volveremos a abrazar, a contar chistes y echarnos un buen brindis. Please say hello to your parents, and to mine.
Un fuerte abrazo de tu cuatazo,
Gregory

My deepest condolences to all of the family. I too have fond memories of hanging out at the Kaminis house in Coyoacan. I seem to remember some not very well behaved monkeys .but that might be my memory playing tricks on me. I do clearly remeber, though, that we we always had fun together.

Mrs. Kaminis, I don't know if you remember me, all I can say is that I have a lot of fun memories of Kim, Art and myself playing at your house.
Art and myself being the younger ones always being playfully roughed up by the older Kim. Lots of fun memories of good old Mexico.
I hope those are the memories you will keep of Kim and his friends.

Saludos y un abraso fuerte.

I have only wonderful memories of Kim and the whole Kaminis family. Our families in Mexico were close. Tepotztlán will always be in my memory as the place where Kim brought his friends. You are missed by many. Thank you for all the love you brought to our lives.

My heart aches for Silvia & family, as well as all of Kim's dear friends. What a wonderful man he was---with an enormous lust for life, generosity of spirit, sense of humor! I feel extremely fortunate to have known him & will miss him as he was always a breath of fresh air!

Kim (Keeeem), I am truly sorry to hear you are no longer with us. I really enjoyed our phone conversation earlier this year, reminiscing about the good times we had working together in Cancun. You will be missed my good friend. Sincerely, Jim (Jeeem) Pyburn
