Smith Family Funeral Homes - Hot Springs Obituary

Kimberlyn J. Hughes, age 49, of Hot Springs, went to be with her dear Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 5, 2013. Kim was born on February 7, 1964, in Dermott, the daughter of Jimmy Hilburn and Reba Rook Hilburn. On September 25, 1987, she was married to Rocky Hughes. She was preceded in death by her daddy, Jim Hilburn; her father-in-law, C.L. Hughes; and her granny, Floy Jeffries Rook. She was of the Baptist faith. Kim grew up in North Little Rock, moved to Hot Springs in 1980 and graduated from Lake Hamilton High School in 1982. She attended Arkansas Tech University. She was a licensed massage therapist and beautician. Kim held several jobs in the medical field, from doing hair transplants to being a scrub tech in her years in the work force. Kim is survived by her loving husband of 25 years, Rocklyn (Rocky) Hughes; her precious daughter, Laken Ariel Hughes, who was the light of her life and her greatest accomplishment and loved her more than anything in this world; her sweet mother, Reba Hilburn; her mother-in-law, Adgie Hughes; her brothers-in-law, Mark and Lana Hughes, Carlton Hughes and Alan Hughes; several other precious family members, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces; and many special friends. Kim loved her family, God and many, many friends. She enjoyed learning and reading about medicine and healing. She loved music, going to concerts, the sound of the ocean, being a mother, wife and daughter, spending time with her friends, and being a friend. Many people would come to Kim for advice and comfort. She was our "rock". A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, June 10, 2013, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs with Pastor John McCallum officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Sunday evening. Interment will be in the Shiloh Cemetery in Atkins at 11:00 AM on Tuesday. Many heartfelt thanks to the doctors and I.C.U. nurses at Mercy Hospital who took special care and watched over her and to all of her many dear friends, who loved her so much, for all the prayers that were so sweetly offered on her behalf and for her family. Mighty things come in small packages! Kim was mighty and so, so, strong and will be greatly missed and forever cherished by all who loved her. She is now living in the peace of His Presence – until we meet again! Kim's greatest wish was for her daughter, Laken, to be able to finish college. Memorials may be made to the Laken Hughes College Fund at any Summit Bank. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
