Not sure what to say?

It's quite possible that my mother was Dr. Merendino's first open heart surgery patient as she had open heart surgery at Harborview in 1956. If not the first, then one of the first. I'm very grateful, Doctor. Thank you so much. Rest in peace.

What a wonderful, kind and generous man. Generous of his time to all who needed him. I had the honor and pleasure of working for Dr. Merendino at the KFSH & RC. He will always be one of the real heroes in my life. God bless Dr. K. Alvin Merendino.

It was 49 years ago today when Dr Merendino mended my broken heart with a new life saving surgery. I was 5 years old at the time. I and my family are forever grateful for the contributions that he, his medical team and his family have made. I wish them all the best.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Dr. Merendino. I had the privilege of working for the Dr and Mrs. Merendino for a short time and was always treated kindly. I enjoyed vegetables from their garden and was always treated with kindness.

I had the great fortune to work for Dr. Merendino as his Executive Assistant in Saudi Arabia at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital. What a warm, generous man. If you were a stranger when you met him, you were a friend when you left. I am honored to have had the opportunity to know such a great pioneer of medical science. And Dr. Merendino, I really do love Italian food, I was just kidding you.

Your friend and fan,

Bob Williams

Words can't express the loss of a father. Not a day goes by that I don't think of something I want to tell him or just to share one of his wonderful hugs. I know he is still with us in spirit and always will be. He taught us many important lessons in life--one being that change is the only constant. I am glad he is at peace.

Dear Nancy,My sincerest condolenceson the loss of your father. I had the great chance to meet him often during the time we were in Saudi Arabia. He was a great man, a great doctor and I know a great father. I thank him for taking you with him as an adult to Riyadh, which gave me a chance to have you as a PA and be close to your family during these times. God bless you and your family.

Hard to believe he's not here with us anymore. I think we all thought he would live forever. There was so much to his life that cannot be put on paper..he was an exceptional man..a wonderful, kind, thoughtful and generous man. He never disappointed any of us. He was a faithful husband and no matter how busy he was 'saving lives' we were always there 'with him'. I was fortunate enough to share a special time with him on his 'second career' in Saudi Arabia when I was 35 years old. Any other...

Sorry to hear about your dad! Will keep you in my prayers.
