Kris Israel LeBlanc left this life on Monday, June 7, 2021, at the Slidell, LA, home she shared with her husband of 24 years, Leslie “Les” LeBlanc. Kris passed at age 58 after six long months with cancer. Her passing was surrounded by family and beloved friends. Kris faced cancer with her brave faith and her usual selflessness. Anyone who knew her would tell you that Kris was loving, kind, brave and gentle. She also had the heart of a warrior. As in all things, she gave this battle her very best. We rejoice in her new life, where she is reunited with her only child, Brent.
Kris was born on June 1, 1963, in New Orleans and lived in Slidell with Les for 24 years. Les says that Kris was "the love of his life." Les gave Kris excellent loving care, by her side always. She was a graduate of Bonnabel High School and worked for decades in the insurance business, most recently at Allstate, where she made many friends.
Left to both mourn her loss and celebrate her life are her husband Les, her sweet dog, Mazy; her father, George Israel, Sr. of Marksville, her mother, Margaret Fant Israel of New Orleans, sisters Erika Connolly (Brian) of Slidell and Kathryn Israel of Westwego; and her brother, George Israel, Jr. (Jeff) of New Orleans. Kris is survived by her sisters-in-law, Brenda Miramon and Bonita Waesche (Randy.)
Other survivors include her nieces Lauren Connolly and Crystal Barrileaux and her nephew and godson, Gabriel Connolly. On the LeBlanc side of her family, Kris is survived by her nieces, Rylie Miramon, Megan Johnson, Beatrice Waesche and Rachel Waesche and by nephews Michael Miramon, Russell Halsrud, Ryan Halsrud, William Halsrud, McPherson Johnson and Miles Johnson.
Last, but not least, there is a large band of cousins whom Kris dearly loved.
Kris was predeceased by her son, Brent Palfrey Israel, and by her stepmother, Mary Israel. She was also predeceased by her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Leslie LeBlanc, Sr. and Ollie LeBlanc; by her sister-in-law, Susan Halsrud and her niece, Lindsey Miramon.
The visitation will be held from 11:00 until 1:00 on Saturday, June 26, with a prayer service at 1:00 at Honaker Funeral Home of Slidell, 1751 Gause Blvd., Slidell, LA.
Kris was ever practical. She would want us all to remember the good times and forget sadness. She would also want people, should they feel led, to give to a charity of your choice, in lieu of flowers. Our family's favorite charity is the Spina Bifida Association of New Orleans, a group that meant a lot to Kris and her son, Brent.
