Not sure what to say?

I got to know Kristi when she first came to Portland, though not in the field of social work. Kristi was a great inspiration for me and great loyal friend. She was a tireless worker whose efforts were not seen by a lot of people.
And when you look around Portland State today you will see that she has left a lasting legacy.
Thanks Kristi, we owe so much. My thoughts are with Steve and Katryn.

I lost touch with Kristi over the last 15 years or so, and I was already missing her presence in my life before I received the sad news of her passing. I got to know her when she was living and working in Iowa City, and we kept in touch for several years after she moved to Portland. Kristi was a huge part of my life from 1989-93 at the UI School of Social Work. She was great boss and supervisor as well as a friend and mentor. I will miss her tremendously. She was a truly honest and decent human being who always sought the best in life for everyone.

Kristine Nelson was a strong leader and advocate for others at the PSU School of Social Work. She brought about significant positive change and will be greatly missed. In addition, she was an elegant, sensitive and powerful woman. May she rest in peace. My prayers to her family

Kristi's passing will be a huge loss to her colleagues, family, friends and most especially to the families who have been touched by her work. Her rigorous research in the field of family preservation has reshaped the way child welfare services are practiced across the country.

She was an inspiring colleague, mentor and friend. RIP Kristi.
