Chadwick Funeral and Cremation Service, LLC - New London Obituary

Kristine S. West of Manchester NH and North Sutton, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025 at her home with family by her side.  Kristine was born in Springfield VT January 2, 1950 to Frederick and Frances Spindler. She graduated from Springfield High School in 1968.  After graduation, she met the love of her life, George Vernon West at the Springfield Airport and they were married for 52 years.  She continued her work in the aviation field with Precision Airways, Flying Tigers, and FedEx.

She was known by many names, Kris, Tina, Tiney, Kate, Katie and most lovingly Auntie.  She and George had no children but enjoyed their several nieces and nephews.  And she spoiled them all.  She loved baking chocolate chip cookies, apple pies, and brownies.

Kris was a 45-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary New London Unit 40 and became the NH Department President in 1988-89.  She continued her devotion and love for the Veterans and became the American Legion Auxiliary National President 2000-2001.  During this time, she helped to establish the Veterans Creative Arts Program.

Kate loved to entertain for the Holidays – and had decorations for all of them.  She also loved the Boston Red Sox and would keep score as taught by our dad.

Tina is predeceased by her husband George, her parents Fred & Frances Spindler; brothers John Spindler, James Spindler of Springfield Vt; sister Marcia Shepard of Brattleboro VT; and brother Fred Spindler of North Port FL.  She is survived by her sisters Paula Ross of New London NH; Julie Daniel of Hadley NY and brother Casey Spindler of North Springfield VT.

The funeral will be Saturday October 25, 2025 at Our Lady of Fatima Church in New London NH at 11:00AM, 724 Main Street, New London NH. Burial will be at the North Sutton NH cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Veterans Creative Arts Program, c/o American Legion Auxiliary, 3450 Founders Road, Indianapolis IN  46268.

Not sure what to say?

My deepest sympathy to Kris's family. She & George were the epitome of what it means to be Legion family. They were always at every Legion function, willing to help fellow veterans out in any way they could. One of my fondest memories was of Kris's National Presidents Homecoming cruise around Lake Winnispesaukee on Oct. 21st 2000. I was always deeply touched to receive a Veterans Day card every Nov. 11th with a little note, for the past 25 years. She was a most gracious, dignified lady, and...

Our condolences to Kris's entire family. What a tremendous loss to the American Legion Auxiliary. She was so dedicated, along with her husband George. One of our closest friends in the Legion family. So many memories. She always remembered our veterans with cards every year. The highlight of the conventions were the hospitality nights when George and Kris were running for office, including the "Go West" themes.
God bless both her and George, and their family.

My condolences to Kris´s family. I was saddened to see her obituary this morning. I participated in her Homecoming in Manchester. I drove a Luxury Bus to pickup the ladies at the airport and they couldn´t believe how classy this event was beginning. Kris knew how to do things First Class. I was one of the Veterans that received her card on Veterans Day. We all have great memories of Kris and George. I feel fortunate to have spent some time with both of them Rest In Peace.

So sorry to hear of Kris's passing. She was a loving caring lady along with George they were wonderful friends to my Mom Lydia for many many years. They were such good friends always looking after my mom taking her with them to many legion functions. God definitely gained Kris as an angel and she can once again be with her true love george and all her American legion friends. RIP Kris you were an amazing woman

I am saddened to learn of the passing of Kris. I Had the great privilege of being a page at NH Department Convention. She was a wonderful, smart, funny woman of class. I always looked forward to seeing her and George at functions. She will be greatly missed.

My deepest sympathy to family and friends of Kris. What a wonderful lady. I met her when I was living in Manchester. Both my mom (Yvette Bergeron d.) and I were Past Presidents of Wm. H. Jutras Post #43. Kris would attend several functions at the post, and we saw her at many state functions as well. She knew everyone by name and always took the time to ask about family, etc. Once you met her, she was a friend for life. God Bless her and her family

What a wonderful lady. She and her Unit would send Veterans Day cards to so many of us for years. She took time to aways include a personal note. I enjoyed seeing her at various events. Rest in peace my friend.

Kris was a very caring and loving lady. She was a wonderful Past Dept. President of the ALA and will be missed by all. My most cherished gift from her was a birthday card sent by her this year.

Paula, Julie & Casey:
Our condolences to you and the whole family. Kristine was a lovely lady and we will miss her greatly. As Past ALA National President she loved all our veterans across the country. May she Rest In Peace.
