Obituary

Looking Out for Mother
In the close-knit Korean-American family, the three sisters once talked about how none of them would ever want to die before their mother because of the devastation that it would cause her. But Casey Cho, the middle sister, disappeared from the 99th floor of 1 World Trade Center; now her youngest sister is trying to do what she thinks Ms. Cho would have wanted. "I know Casey would want me to be strong," said Melissa Cho. "Casey would try to make my mother get over it."

Casey Cho, 30, shopped, traveled, wrote short stories and poems and was planning a wedding to a graphics designer next year. But she also had a strong sense of family and supported her mother, who lost her husband to a stroke seven years ago, and her oldest sister, who quit her job after becoming pregnant. The three women, and Ms. Cho's 1-year-old nephew, lived together in New Jersey. Two months ago, Casey Cho got a job doing research in the environmental claims area for Marsh & McLennan. "She was really happy," said Melissa Cho, 24. "She never had any regrets in life."

Guest Book

Not sure what to say?

Rest in peace. From Cole James Johnson.

Casey, I learned about your story through an author (Min Jin Lee) who named one of the characters in her book after you. I hope you are resting peacefully.

I post my background photo of Casey's name on the memorial plaque every year on my Facebook page. Last year was my first time in New York and I visited her in person. Tears filled my eyes as I wiped the rain drops off her name. You will never be forgotten Casey. XO~

Pausing to remember your family today and honor Kaccy's legacy. Much love from Texas

Yesterday, 1,000+ riders each rode from Woodstock, IL to the 9-11 Healing Field in Oak Brook, IL. with a lanyard that had the name of someone who died on that horrible day. I had the honor of not only riding with Kyung’s lanyard around my neck, but finding her flag amongst the nearly 3,000 flags at the field. I brought her lanyard home with me so that I will never forget neither that day nor Kyung. May she Rest In Peace.

Remembering Kyung on the 20th anniversary of 9/11...

We will never forget. I pray for the family and friends of Kaccy as we honor her memory. Much love from Texas.

Hello Melissa, I am sorry for your loss even as so many years have passed. I am trying to make contact with you and your family. I am a resident and board member at valley heights in Clifton where I believe kaccey lived snd I remember a tree planted in her honor , the sign for it has been removed. As a board member I want to have one put back in her honor. I did not live here until a few months after 911 although I did not know her , I was disappointed to see her sign removed. Please email...

Sending our sincere thoughts of sympathy to your family. May God continue to give the help and support needed. Casey is still missed by others.
