L. Hélène Gaudreau, 83, of Beebe Plain, passed away in Derby on Monday, November 15, 2004. She was born in St. Joseph de Beauce, PQ on December 19, 1920, the daughter of Joseph and Jeanne Poulin. On October 28, 1944 she married René Gaudreau at Ste. Thérèse de l’Enfant Jésus in Beebe, PQ.

Hélène was a homemaker and was devoted to her husband, children and grandchildren. She also spent time working at Newport Plastics and the department of Social Welfare. She was a member of St. Edward’s Parish and the Altar Society at St. Edward’s, Community Circle, Home-Dem, and was also a hospice volunteer.

Hélène is survived by her husband René of Beebe Plain, her children, Rev. Bernard E. Gaudreau of Stowe, Michel J. Gaudreau of Derby, Claire M. Muren and her husband Michael of Bakersfield, Odile M. Steel and her husband Alan of Greenbrae, California, and Lucie A. Emerson and her husband David of Troy, her grandchildren, Gregory Gaudreau, Christopher Gaudreau, Sarah Gaudreau, Morgan Muren, Brock Hayes and Bryant Hayes, her siblings, Raymonde Poulin Lecours of Sherbrooke, PQ, Thérèse Poulin Godbout of Sherbrooke, PQ, Yolande Haselton of Beebe Plain, Madeleine Brault of Boucherville, PQ, Germain Poulin and his wife Irene of Stanstead, PQ, Denise Gaudreau and her husband John of Beebe Plain, Vital Poulin and his wife Lorraine of Boucherville, PQ, Henriette Daigneault and her husband George of Derby Line, Gilles Poulin of Magog, PQ, Réjeanne Babkine and her husband Georges of St. Lambert, PQ, Jacques Poulin and his wife Rachel of Boucherville, PQ, Andrée Poulin of Sherbrooke, PQ, and Lise Meyette and her husband Larry of Essex Junction, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Jeanne Poulin, by two brothers, Rev. Paul Marcel Poulin and Claude Poulin, and by several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Friends may call at the Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford Funeral Home, Darling Hill Road, Newport, (formerly Sias Ave) on Wednesday, November 17 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 18 at St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Derby Line at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Bernard Gaudreau officiating. Interment will follow at St. Edward’s Cemetery in Derby Line. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Hélène’s memory may be made to the Orleans-Essex VNA & Hospice, Inc., 46 Lakemont Road, Newport, VT 05855.
