Not sure what to say?

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of his family. He was such a special person to so many of us. He made a big mark on so many people in our community. He was our preacher, our friend and mentor. I loved and will always love the person he was to all of us. I know heaven is even more beautiful and sweeter now than before. Thanks to God for a true blessing. Cleo Sauls Sorrell, Apex, N.C.

I knew him as Mr. Oliver. He was my pastor at New Bethel Baptist Church during my teen years in the 50's. He had an extraordinarily positive impact on my life during those years. I am most grateful to this day for his influence on my life then and the lessons I learned from him which have been with me throughout my life to date. Thank you Mr. Oliver for your kindness, empathy, sensitivity, Godliness, and your genuine care for others. May you rest in eternal peace.

Family, Lacy baptised me in 1960 at New Bethel Baptist church in Garner. He was truly an inspiration for our community.

Mary and family, I am so sorry to hear of your loss and Heaven's gain. Lacy married Harry and me on May 8, 1955 while he was serving at New Bethel near Garner. What a saint he was. Always doing for others while serving the Lord. He was 31 yrs old when he married us. Thank you Lacy for helping direct this country girl at age 20 to be the best wife to my wonderful husband. Your love, kindness, and words of wisdom were so much appreciated. Rest in peace.

My favorite quote from him was "You can't get ready, you have to be ready!". What a wonderful life he lived. I love and will miss you until I see you again......
