Lacy Edward Simpson, Sr.

Gretna.......Lacy Edward Simpson, Sr. age 79 of 5401 Music Street, Gretna died Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Danville Regional Hospital.
Born November 7, 1930 in Pittsylvania County he was a son of the late Moman William Simpson and Sagasta Keesee Simpson. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Overton Simpson, and a brother, Roscoe Simpson.
He is survived by two daughters, Charlotte Shelton and husband, Steve of Pittsville, and Ellen Childress and husband Ricky of Gretna; a son Eddie Simpson and wife, Velma of Gretna; two brothers, Carroll Simpson and wife, Ruth of Gretna, and Gerald Simpson and wife, Mary of Salem; a sister, Elaine Worley of Roanoke; four grandchildren, Allen Shelton, Keith Shelton, Carrie S. Neal, and Justin Childress; two great-grandchildren, Ethan Neal, and Julia Shelton; and a special friend, Mary Ann Motley.
He was a Marine Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Mr. Simpson was an Army Veteran and Staff Sgt. of Vietnam where he received the Purple Heart. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, refinishing gun stocks, and enjoyed Owens Mill Club House.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Friday, July 16, 2010 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Elder Raymond Goad. Burial with Military Honors by The Virginia National Guard Honor Guard will follow in the Simpson Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of his daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Steve Shelton, 4335 Pittsville Road, Pittsville.
The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 3907, Martinsville, VA 24115.
