I knew you were hurting although you wouldn't cry,
And could see you were suffering, see the pain in your eye
I wanted to comfort you, to hold you, be with you that day,
You looked so helpless and frail while in bed you did lay.

I watched as you shivered from a new pain,
And wondered how I might have handled the same.
I wanted to scream, to shout, and to yell,
You said you were fine although your skin was so pale.

I knew in my heart your time was near...

Funny how seemingly insignificant things can teach a lifelong lesson...I have a few of those memories and lessons by Uncle Larry that have stayed with me. They are a part of me now, and they are lessons that I've taught my own kids--I believe my kids will teach their own kids these same ideas. I wonder if he knows now what an impact he had on people's lives? Not only did he give me these lessons, but he gave to the world five of the best human beings I will ever know in my life.
