I had the blessing of knowing Laira in the early 90's. After quite some time of a friendship lost - I tracked her down a couple of years ago. We were able to talk a few times and I am so glad I found her. I wanted her to know how much of a great friend she was to me and how much I treasured our friendship - even through the rough times. She will be terribly missed...I loved her laugh, her cooking and she just loved cleaning my apartment. "What's that smell?" and she would say "Clean..." ...

I had the pleasure of meeting Laira when I was a student at Lake City Community College. I got frustrated and dropped out of school. Laira wouldn't let me give up. She kept after me until i came back. Her smile was the first thing I saw when I walked back into that classroom. I graduated from college because of her. Laira was a strong person and a true example of courage. I will miss her smile. I offer my prayers to her family. Blessed are those that morn. God picked a beautiful rose.

Teddy, I'm SO sorry. I just heard this afternoon about Laira's passing. I had no idea. I know that she is in a better place and just know that my mom and dad are there to show her all of it's beauty. Time does help heal and I would so love to see you, so call me 386-963-1334. I remember when we were kids and I used to think of you like my 2nd mom. I love you dearly and will keep you in my prayers!

Dear Teddy -
First, I would like to say it has always been my pleasure of just having known Laira, if I only had the opportunity to have met her face to face. No doubt in my mind, she was an inspiration to anyone that had the opportunity to meet her. What I will always remember about Laira is her laughter. The last time we talked I got her to laugh. Teddy, Bill, Rayl and Taren remember this - in the Bible it speaks "to be absent from the mind is to present with the Lord." You can rest...
